The LA Rams are still chalking up meetings with prospects and the net is being cast far and wide. The team meets with players to round out the information they have and fill in the holes with data that is needed to make objective comparisons and to ensure that their data is a complete and updated as possible.
As we continue to record and track the frequency of the Rams meetings, we will continue to assess what the pattern of their meetings may enlighten us with as far as the positions and/or projected rounds of their draft prospect counterparts.
What about the players NOT met with? Well, so far the LA Rams have not met with any quarterbacks, nor tight ends. And so far, the Rams have focused exclusively on cornerbacks and have not shown any interest in selecting a safety.
Another anomaly is the infrequent pattern of meeting with linebackers and offensive linemen. Right now, the team seems to be staring down the barrel of a double-barreled shotgun in the view of how the team will be impacted by the 2022 expired contracts.
Why to all this trouble? Well, for starters, the typical draft boards are loaded with diversity. Some boards have UCF CB Tay Gowan projected as an early day two candidate, while others have him ranked all the way to the round seven or even as a priority free agent signing after the draft. So we need a better way to project where the Rams will be aiming their six-shooter of draft picks, and one way is simply to track who they are meeting with.
