Cornerback

The LA Rams may have lost defensive back Troy Hill to free agency, but there are other NFL-ready prospects to be had for a relatively inexpensive investment.  Buffalo Bills CB Dane Jackson spent much of the 2020 NFL season on the practice squad but is a very promising and talented young man.

He is a 6-foot-0 187-pound defensive back who was selected by the Bills in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He did see action in five games, and due to injuries, was given the chance to start for the Bills in two games. That equated to 193 defensive snaps. Despite the light work and the late draft selection, he was very impressive on the football field.

He ended the season with 15 tackles, 13 of them solo. He accounted for one tackle for a loss and one interception. But the statistic I find most impressive is the fact that he allowed just 61.3 percent of the passes targeting him to find their mark.

The Bills have plenty of talent at cornerback and risk reassigning Jackson to the practice squad where he can be signed to an active roster for no compensation.  The Rams could make a gratuitous offer to the Bills this year before the draft.

In this exchange, the Rams get a gifted young defensive back in an area of need, and the Buffalo Bills walk away with a sixth-round draft pick in a future draft.
