The LA Rams are preparing for the 2021 NFL Draft in a variety of ways.  By now, travel arrangements to Cleveland Ohio are already confirmed for anyone making the trek. But for the most part, the LA Rams will be doing another NFL Draft in the virtual world, and from the safe confines of their draft headquarters.

This is a tough year for the Rams. Once more the team has committed to reshaping the roster on the fly. In 2019, the team worked upon the offensive line and the defensive secondary. In 2020, it was the entire defense. In 2021, it’s the offense’s turn for a facelift.

Positioned with easy access to television coverage, it wasn’t long before the event itself became sports news.

In 1980, the new sports channel requested permission to televise the NFL Draft. While then NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle did not believe it was broadcast worthy, he agreed. Of course, he did not know about ESPN’s secret weapon, Baltimore-birthed NFL Draft Analyst Mel Kiper, who predicted what the team’s picks would be, and took NFL teams to task if he disagreed with their strategy.
