As the NFL Draft is less than two weeks away, the LA Rams are preparing for it in a very different way this year. With the Covid-19 pandemic still ongoing, the NFL still has some restrictions in place. However, it will be less restricted than last year’s fully virtual draft. With the NFL allowing teams to be at the facility with a limited amount of people in the war room, the Rams decided to do things a little differently this year.
The LA Rams took to Twitter today to show their fans that instead of drafting at their team facility in Inglewood, they will be hosting the draft a 9,000 square foot Malibu mansion. In the video, general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay give an exclusive tour of the “Rocket Mortgage Draft House”. The Rams are definitely going to be drafting in paradise this year.
The draft house includes an infinity swimming pool, with beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean. The team will use the beautiful rental not only for the draft weekend but for ongoing team operations throughout the middle of May. The Rams will be able to enjoy the amenities of the house without stress on night one of the NFL Draft as the team does not have their first selection until Day Two (second round, 57th overall pick).
One cool thing about this house, is the Rams are allowing fans to enter a sweepstake to win a three-day stay at the Malibu home from May 14-16.
On the LA Rams website, the coverage of the Rams Draft Headquarters comes with a bit of intriguing information. Rams Vice President of Partnership Marketing Lexi VonderLieth stated:
"“We are thrilled to work with Rocket Mortgage to build this stunning and first-of-its-kind draft headquarters and set the foundation for drafting little differently for years to come”. Looks like the Rams are looking to draft away from the facility for the foreseeable future. – Lexi VonderLieth as per therams.com"
And as Les Snead alluded to in the video on Twitter (see above), “you can’t help but draft well in an environment like this”.
Let’s hope that holds true. The Rams, once more, need to nail this draft
