The LA Rams have plenty of reasons to turn the 2021 NFL Draft into a shopping spree for offensive linemen. They lost their center to free agency. The team faces losing interior linemen to free agency in 2022. And their bookend offensive tackles are getting older now. How long can the Rams count on their current roster to shield the quarterback from quick and twitchy pass rushers?

Well, as much as we’d love to say otherwise, there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of wiggle room this year in terms of adding a modestly priced free agent nor adding a solid assortment of young offensive linemen from the 2021 NFL Draft.

And so, the Rams enter the season with one foot in the ‘as is’ school of thought, and another foot in the ‘needs to be addressed school of thought. And with new offensive line coach Kevin Carberry arriving on the scene, it’s really anybody’s guess as to which path the Rams will take for the 2021 NFL season.

You see, the Rams have advantages to making moves at tweaking the offensive line this year, but other advantages of not doing so. We know that in the offseason, Les Snead has talked at length about the potential for either veteran offensive Brian Allen or reserve offensive center has to fill the team’s need for a starter in 2021. So far, only we have been going on record citing Shelton as a potential solution. And yes, so far we’ve been wrong.
