If you look at the LA Rams offensive line, you know that the team will need to reinforce its trenches to keep the grass stains off veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford to a minimum.
This 6-foot-5, 338-pounder started six of 13 games as a freshman. Then he started all 13 games as a sophomore and earned All-America honors in 2020, including a first-team nod from the Associated Press.
His forte is pass protection. And that’s just what the Rams are gonna’ be looking to add to this year’s roster – beefy protection that keeps their new veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford upright. Because all indications are this offense will come out slinging the ball and attacking rival NFC West teams vertically.
He’s no slouch in the run game, either, although most of the scouts do not envision him as a pulling guard. Banks is a big, err make that huge, powerful offensive guard and is strong as the proverbial ox. He also brings a competitive toughness to every down and plays with a mean, nasty streak. A snarler. We like snarlers.
It’s easy to imagine Banks blowing up holes and creating creases for LA Rams running back Cam Akers to explode through. And when you can envision it, he’s most assuredly a fit.
