NFL Draft 2021: Top 5 LA Rams prospects from Independent colleges
By Jay Blucher
Offensive tackle
The fourth prospect we will focus upon is an outstanding young offensive tackle for the Brigham Young University Cougars by the name of Brady Christensen (6.19-grade NFL.com)
Sometimes, the group that plays together long enough takes on the characteristics of one another. While that can be good, the LA Rams offensive line could use a bit more snarl, growl, and nastiness.
The 6-foot-6 300-pounder Christensen fits the bill, as he was the blind-side protector of stellar BYU quarterback Zach Wilson. His steady protection was a primary reason Wilson had time to make all those throws. And his own stellar play garnered him recognition as a consensus first-team All-American. If you have an elite quarterback in the draft, you can bet he had an elite blind-side protector keeping him safe.
It sure seems to me that a solid pass-blocking left tackle with good mobility and foot speed sufficient to thwart the attacks of edge rushers is just what the doctor ordered for the Rams to protect their new QB, Matthew Stafford.
His steady protection was a primary reason Wilson had time to make all those throws. And yet, Christensen is not one of the frequently discussed offensive tackles. Could he fall to the Rams? Let’s hope so.
