With each NFL season, 31 teams that did not win the Super Bowl do not have long to fall into a sullen mindset and lick their wounds. Oh no, that just won’t do in professional football. For the moment that the last season ends, all eyes turn towards the next year and rebuilding the roster into a Super Bowl contender. Right now, that is exactly what the LA Rams are doing.
The Rams frequently choose the road less traveled in that course towards winning in the NFL. While it’s not an easier path, the team’s 43-21 record over the past four years is proof enough that it has worked. And yet, it has its share of drawbacks as well.
The Rams do not have a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. In fact, since General Manager Les Snead has begun drafting for Head Coach Sean McVay, the Rams have not selected in the first round and are not currently scheduled to do so until 2024. But that only means that they are better at finding value later in the draft. It’s their forte’, as the team’s success depends heavily upon that ability to sniff out NFL starters who are overlooked by other teams.
There may never be another NFL draft like this one in our lifetime. Seriously. The chaos of comparing NFL rookie prospects who played full, partial, or no college football in 2020 has created absolutely randomness when judging who will be NFL caliber and who will not.
The Big-12 football conference is like a Walmart Superstore in that the Rams can fill all of their positional needs just by drafting prospects from this one conference. Let’s take a look and see what I mean.
