LA Rams Final pre-draft meeting summary
By Bret Stuter
This is it, folks. The LA Rams are about to change the lives of about two dozen or so young men. Six of whom will hear their names called during the 2021 NFL Draft. The other dozen and a half will be called after the draft ends. So far the time being, we are drawing the line in the sand.
From this moment forward in time, we will be reporting the pre-draft meetings individually. But with the proximity of the 2021 NFL draft, the point in time to cut off the updates is here and now. Even if the Rams do add one or two more meetings, we can report those out to you individually.
The goal here is to examine the pre-draft population, discuss positions, projected draft rounds, and highlight common qualities of these potential Rams rookies. For starters, the common theme through most prospects is their ability to contribute to special teams. Whether blessed with speed, high energy, the ability to seek the ball carrier and deliver a no-miss tackle, or to block for a punter, there is a solid feel that special teams are an important factor in this draft class.
Cornerbacks are a key position of interest. Edge is a priority. If I were a betting man, I’d say that two of the day-two position targets are edge and cornerback. The Rams have offensive center Quinn Meinerz in their sights. But if he is gone before they pick, I’m not convinced that there is an alternate center. It’s Meinerz or bust in this draft. Okay. I’ve given away another team strategy. Here are the 23 pre-draft meetings.
