LA Rams Draft Primer LIVE 2021 NFL Draft tracker and updates
By Bret Stuter
The LA Rams may not be hanging by the pool today. There may not be an enclave of operators standing the phones hustling and bustling to transact 2021 NFL Draft trades. But this is a day of significant importance to the LA Rams 2021 NFL season nevertheless. This is the first day that NCAA football players cross that bridge from hopeful to professional.
Keep in mind to encourage all college players. This is the moment that many have trained for, hoped for, for many years. This is their Olympics, that moment where all of the personal sacrifices that they have accepted willingly, and in-kind have been embraced by family members, shines in a singular act of accomplishment. It’s surreal because everything up to this point has been building up to this moment.
28 NFL Teams will make a selection in round one. The LA Rams, Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, and Houston Texans will not select until day two. Four Teams will select twice in round one: Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, and Baltimore Ravens.
The biggest news of the day is the wave of quarterback who will come off the board early on day one. The consensus so far is that the Jacksonville Jaguars will select Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence with the first pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. And few disagree that the New York Jets will select BYU quarterback Zach Wilson. At the third pick of the draft, there is some debate over who the San Francisco 49ers will select. The consensus is that the 49ers traded up to the third pick of this draft to grab a quarterback, but which one?
The NFL analysts who seem to have a good track record think Alabama quarterback Mac Jones is third. But others argue that Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields or North Dakota State quarterback Trey Lance is their choice. Will other teams trade up for another quarterback? That’s the drama that builds for day one of this NFL draft and will keep us all glued to our seats throughout the evening.
