LA Rams trade for the 3rd time to pick up 9th pick in draft
By Bret Stuter
The LA Rams are at it again. It could be that the team simply wants to stockpile talent. Or do the LA Rams not like the value on the board when they have traded? So far the Rams have traded back at the 88th pick of the draft to land picks 117 and 121. Next, the Rams traded back at 121 with 209 to get picks 130, 170, and 249. Finally, the LA Rams traded back at 170 to get picks 174 and 233. In the end, the LA Rams have multiplied their six draft picks to nine picks.
There is plenty of deep talent in this draft. What the Rams may be content to miss out on with these trade backs, the team appears to be content to pick up later in the draft. The latest trade happened between the Rams and the Houston Texans.
The LA Rams have now increased their seventh-round picks to three which is equal to the number of picks the Rams have in round four.
So far the LA Rams draft has taken shape in this manner:
LA Rams Picks:
Pick 57 – Louisville WR Tutu Atwell
Pick 103 – South Carolina LB Ernest Jones
Pick 117 – Texas A&M DT Bobby Brown III
Pick 130 – Central Arkansas CB Robert Rochell
Pick 141 – UCF TE/WR Jacob Harris
Pick 174 – Northwestern DE Earnest Brown IV
Pick 233 – Round 7
Pick 249 – Round 7
Pick 242 – Round 7
That’s a pretty healthy haul so far. You can look for the Rams to swing at the defensive backs and offensive linemen positions with their remaining picks. The Rams truly will be interested in adding promising players who the team can develop going forward, and those two positions are loaded with talent even in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
The Rams may also look at the outside linebacker position if the right player remains on the board. The Rams have three picks remaining. Who will they add? Stay tuned.
