III. Consecutive road games

The Rams will face consecutive road games on three occasions. The first occasion is their October 7 road game on Thursday Night Football to face the rival Seattle Seahawks. The Rams must then jump into a plane to travel across the country to take on the New York Giants on October 17. While the Rams have the luxury of ten days to hop to two distant cities, they do so at the expense of prep time to take on the Seahawks (their short week of just four days).

The second time occurs in November, as the LA Rams will travel to face the pesky San Francisco 49ers on  November 15 for Monday Night Football, and then be on another plane to travel to take on the Green Bay Packers after Thanksgiving Day as they square off on November 28. Once more, the sting of traveling for two consecutive games is somewhat tampered with splitting the two games with a Week 11 BYE.  But the reality is that the team will be forced onto the road twice in November.

The third time the Rams must face consecutive road games is the transition from 2021 to 2022. How so? The Rams take a long flight to Minnesota to take on the Vikings on December 26, 2021. The following week, the LA Rams board another long flight, this time to take on the wintry world of the Baltimore Ravens on January 2, 2022.  How’s that for some peaceful Holidays Season celebrating?

Lest us not seem too ungrateful, the Rams could have faced a great deal worse with a schedule that presumed nine road games to just eight home games.  In theory, the Rams could have been on the road for four consecutive weeks and still face five other road games. But The Rams still face living out of a suitcase three times in the 2021 NFL season. By contrast, the Arizona Cardinals face that twice in 2021, the San Francisco 49ers face that twice in 2021, and the Seattle Seahawks face that twice in 2021.
