5 LA Rams UDFAs who can make Rams roster in 2021
By Bret Stuter
DB Grant
While Paris Ford may be one of the most discussable undrafted rookies on the LA Rams roster, his teammate/competition safety Jovan Grant is most likely the more competent. After all, he is the 6-foot-1 210-pound defensive back who fits the nobody-has-heard-of-yet category quite nicely. And yet, he offers a tough ton of football talent. That translates into a young man who is on the team on his own merits.
The young man fits a valued and rare hybrid LB/S mold that is rapidly gaining popularity in the NFL. And that is what makes him such a curious and intriguing prospect.
His was the path of college football hopeful that seldom earned him much national interest. He was a Finance major at a small school football program. He had great measurables, put up an impressively productive career with 30 games delivering 155 tackles, 7.5 tackles for a loss, two quarterback sacks, three interceptions, eight pass defenses, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and two blocked kicks. The problem? He didn’t play in 2020, and he played for a small college. Discovering him among so many prospects was too difficult for many NFL teams. But not for the Rams
The rookie from Merrimack gave an intriguing interview In which he talked about his work ethic and his versatility. He may be facing an uphill journey, but he certainly appears to have the right kind of mindset to succeed. John Johnson III? Perhaps not. But he’s got a fire, and that’s always good to have in any NFL secondary.
