Ramsey recruiting

The LA Rams roster may not be the sure-fire guaranteed Super Bowl winner team, but you can’t blame any of that on All-Pro defensive back, Jalen Ramsey. Ramsey arrived at the LA Rams in 2019 after another blockbuster trade that pulled him away from the Jacksonville Jaguars.

This offseason, Jalen Ramsey has not-so-subtlely recruited Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones, and New England Patriots defensive back Stephen Gilmore.  Jalen Ramsey is fiercely loyal to his circle of friends, and that also included the LA Rams organization right now.  While only 26 years of age, he has experienced some of the highest heights and lowest depths of the NFL in his short five-year NFL career. Now, locked up to a multi-year contract with the LA Rams, he wants to win.

Ramsey cares about this team. While he hasn’t reached the last-hurrah stage of Andrew Whitworth’s storied career, nor the epiphany of Aaron Donald’s realization that giving one’s best may still not be good enough, he has enough respect and admiration for his teammates to understand the urgency of getting the best roster onto the field in a Rams jersey now, this year.

Ramsey will no doubt have 10+ years remaining in the NFL. But in a league with limited numbers of intersections, he would be wise to observe more veteran players and heed their advice. Perhaps he has done so, which is why he has gone to extraordinary lengths to give his NFL contemporaries pause to consider playing for the LA Rams. Winning takes some luck, lots of preparation, good planning and execution, and in many ways simply outlasting the competition. Jalen Ramsey may have a long NFL career ahead of him, but he is already witnessing the career tracks of his teammate. Nothing lasts forever.
