Rams rapid riser
That flexibility to play proficiently in multiple roles allows defenses to disguise coverages and create quarterback pause, allowing the pass rush to record a sack. If the quarterback throws anyways, he risks throwing into the wrong coverage and having the pass broken up or, worse yet, throwing an interception.
So here we are entering the LA Rams 2021 Training Camp, and lo and behold, Terrell Burgess is picking up exactly where he left off in 2020. Perhaps even better than before. And there is a good reason for that.
Terrell Burgess having a great day today. Had a pick-six during team drills earlier, just now had a pass breakup on a Matthew Stafford pass over the middle intended for DeSean Jackson.

Burgess, like many who saw some limited play on the Rams roster in 2020, was able to employ that minimal action to focus his intensity and training throughout the offseason. Nothing is new now, rather than introductions, he is just reacquainting himself with the players, the coaches, the speed that was all part of his learning curve a year ago. He is back to his team from a year ago, and he’s had a year to prepare mentally and physically.
That time away may have been a blessing in disguise for Burgess. No doubt his heart ached a bit to watch his teammates play the rest of the season and into the playoffs without him. While ‘just a rookie” in 2020, it was clear that he was just turning the corner from reactive to proactive on the Rams defense. Now, he gets to wrap all of that training, that passing, that desire, and all of the coaching and training so far into one package he can demonstrate on the football field. And it seems that is exactly what he is doing.
