Harris hampered by minor injury
Let’s get right to it. Where the heck is Harris? That athletic superstar was all the buzz in OTAs, but suddenly nobody is talking about him. What’s going on?
So the LA Rams rookie sensation tight end Jacob Harris had undergone a minor procedure to repair a core muscle injury a few weeks per The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue and is still recovering. That means that he will be unable to drill for several weeks as he progresses through the healing process.
That’s hugely disappointing because the 6-foot-5 220-pound tight end/wide receiver Harris was making rapid progress in OTAs and were he able to maintain that pace he would be an outside chance to earn a significant role in the LA Rams offense for this season. After all, this is a young man who buried the needle in terms of raw athleticism. So much so that despite being a rookie, there was a hope of beating the odds and seeing playing time.
So much for those plans.
Rams TE Jacob Harris suffered a minor core injury a few weeks ago, and had a minor procedure, according to a source w/ knowledge of the injury. Harris had a standout spring w/ the first team, and will be fully back in a few weeks. Nobody is on PUP so team is just being cautious.

This news may be a bit disappointing right now, but there could be a silver lining to it eventually. After all, with less time, Jacob Harris is more likely to be redshirted this year. Or if he has a chance at playing time, there is still a chance that he could specialize in red-zone packages, particularly if he demonstrates the ability to emerge with the football in a crowd of players. The guy’s ceiling remains lofty indeed. But his learning curve just grew significantly longer now.
