Let me reiterate

As we have restated frequently this offseason, the offensive line configuration of Andrew Whitworth, David Edwards, Austin Corbett, Bobby Evans, and Rob Havenstein is less about can Austin Corbett hike the ball and play effectively at offense center. It was about the concerns of offensive tackle Bobby Evans trying once more to find a way to start effectively at the offensive guard position.

Now, it seems that the LA Rams coaches are rethinking the wisdom of tinkering with two offensive line positions when one fix is truly needed. So now, that has become Brian Allen at the center position, and Austin Corbett back to right guard.

The only problem? Austin Corbett has been hiking to Stafford all along. Suddenly the automatic hike to the quarterback may not be automatic after all. That’s not a sure-fire screw-up after the season starts, but it’s why the team needed to cycle through players hiking to Stafford before pads went on. The Rams sometimes seem to get the big picture. Sometimes? Not so much.

The Rams talked about options for the offensive line. The team mentioned Coleman Shelton, Chandler Brewer., Austin Corbett, and yes, Brian Allen. Brian Allen has retained the confidence of the coaching staff all along, despite the injury in 2019, the struggles before that injury, and the prolonged rehab to recover and return to the team afterward.
