Amidst the flurry (avalanche?) of analytics that measures almost every conceivable NFL player’s performance statistics imaginable, comes news from an outfit called Sportshandle which has completed a survey of the drinking habits of NFL fan bases.

So without further adieu, we break away from LA Rams‘ training camp news and the daily minutiae of which player tore up their hand, thumb, knee, or Achilles heel in practice today to bring you the following important announcement: According to their survey results, LA Rams fans rank ninth out of the 32 NFL teams, consuming an average 4.3 drinks per game and spending $55.71.

Not the top of the heap – those bragging rights belong to the Cincinnati Bengals’ fans who average 5.2 drinks per game. (Of course, when you are a Bengals fan and have lived through that team’s torturous history of NFL mediocrity, well, it kinda makes sense).

The LA Rams are not at the bottom of the list – that ignominy belongs to the San Francisco 49ers, who average 2.6 drinks per game. They don’t need to be intoxicated to unleash their passion for the sport.  (Of course, 49ers’ fans also drink cosmopolitans, wine spritzers, and lemon drops, which probably skews the survey results a bit.)

But Rams fans are, indeed, the top beer drinkers of the NFC West!

Per the website, they explain how they arrive at these precious nuggets of analytics information:

"“From June 21 – 30, 2021, we surveyed 2,013 self-reporting National Football League fans who were over the age of 21 from around the country. 62% of respondents were male and 38% were female. The average age of respondents was 38 years old.”- per Sporthandle describing survey methodology."

Interestingly, (and perhaps not so very surprising) Seattle Seahawks fans are amongst the drinking lightweights of the NFL, consuming about 3.3 drinks per game and spending $37.70, ranking 28th out of 32 fan bases. A whopping 62 percent of Seahawks fans said they were likely to miss some or all of a game because of their game-day drinking, per the survey results.

As for the other NFC West Team that plays in the desert – the Arizona Cardinals ranked 24th, consuming an average of 3.4 drinks per game.

Also of note, the Rams’ SoFi Stadium roommates known as the LA Chargers pay the most of all 32 teams for their 4.4 drinks per game, spending a league-high average of $60.93 per game.

Apparently, concession sales help pay the rent.
