Rams’ triplets may not even be the Rams’ best performers in 2021?

The LA Rams triplets, as authored by NFL.com Around the NFL writer Nick Shook, consist of quarterback Matthew Stafford, wide receiver Robert Woods, and running back Sony Michel. While they are all quite capable performers, only Matthew Stafford is certain to lead the team under center.

Now don’t get me wrong. Robert Woods is perfectly suited for the LA Rams offense, and he delivers at or above expectations each season. He had two consecutive 1000 + yard seasons before his streak ended in 2020 at 936 yards. With a 17th game this year, and with Stafford throwing the ball, he should easily break the 1000-yard plateau this year.  But that may not be enough to outdo the performance of teammate Cooper Kupp.

In his four seasons with the Rams, Kupp has led all receivers three of the four years. His only absence from atop receiving yards? He missed half of the season in 2018.  So far, reports throughout training camp have touted the nearly instant chemistry formed between Cooper Kupp and quarterback Matthew Stafford. That connection has led to a myriad of touchdowns so far.

Meanwhile, on the rushing side, there is no great consensus over how the season will shake out. Will Sony Michel become the lead running back? Will Darrell Henderson remain RB1 in the Rams offense? Much like 2020, I expect that the Rams team will do well running the ball. But I don’t know that, based on the current roster, any single receiver will put up huge yardage?
