Rams Injury Report vs Bears Week 1

The following Rams players have been ruled out for today’s game against the Chicago Bears: rookie wide receiver Ben Skowronek with a healing fractured arm (questionable). Both OL Tremayne Anchrum (knee) and OLB Ogbonnia Okoronkwo (shoulder stinger) remain on Injured Reserve. Rookie OLB Chris Garrett starts the season in quarantine on the team’s reserve/COVID-19 list

The LA Rams have called up OLB Justin Lawler and DB Tyler Hall to balance out the roster for this one. While that is the maximum number of players who can be activated per game week, the Rams certainly need help on their pass rush for this one. Justin Lawler flashed high pass rush potential in the preseason, while Tyler Hall will likely assume a special team coverage role he mastered a year ago while playing for the Atlanta Falcons.

The Chicago Bears will face the LA Rams without defensive lineman Eddie Goldman (knee/ankle). Although Bears safety Tashaun Gipson Sr. has been limited in practice with a sore back, Bears head coach Matt Nagy claims that Gipson will be a go for Sunday Night Football.

Darrell Henderson / Sony Michel workload

The LA Rams have given Sony Michel the NFL equivalent of a crash course to learn the team’s playbook. While his north-south running style would be ideal for this one, I expect that veteran running back Darrell Henderson will open the game and be given at least half of the carries. He had a fairly good performance against the Bears in 2020, and the Rams will look to get a similar type of game out of him this year.

That’s not to say that Michel won’t see the ball. He could be very effective in the red zone, and the Rams would love to limit Henderson’s usage in week one. I would not expect Michel to be called in to work long drives. But on short yardage or red zone plays? He could be used to spell Henderson throughout the game.

Bears vs. Rams Odds and Betting Pick Week 1

WynnBET’s Preseason Week 1 NFL odds have the Rams increased to 9.0 points at home. With the LA Rams finally playing their starters and opening at home, head coach Sean McVay has every reason to open up the offense with both barrels in this one. The money line on this one finds the Chicago Bears as the underdog at +295. The Rams sit as the game’s favorite at -390.  To predict the Bears to win this one outright, bet $100 and win $295. For the Rams? You need to cough up $390 to bet to win $100 on this one.  The Over/under is set at 46.5. set at -110.  I don’t trust the Bears’ offense to score enough for the over.

If you had the Rams at the early 7.5, you are looking good. I still like the Rams at 9.0 points in this one. The Bears will try to run a slow-paced game with the ground game and short high percentage passes. The Rams will counter by running a wide-open offense, that should put up points quickly. Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford knows this Bears defense and has had plenty of success. The Bears have not seen the combination of Stafford and McVay.

Take the Rams at -9.0, but not by much.
