The LA Rams only have one win, a victory against the Chicago Bears that many expected to be their easiest opponent in at least the first six weeks of the 2021 NFL season. The Rams did win, but nobody knows what it says about the quality of this Rams team. After all, isn’t that the very nature of competition?  You truly do not know exactly how good the team is until the NFL teams have sorted themselves out.

The LA Rams organization knows that. The coaching staff knows that. Hopefully, the players fully appreciate that. The team travels to face another 2020 playoff team, the Indianapolis Colts, and do so on the road and at a kickoff time that is still morning for the west coast. The Colts are 0-1 and are eager to put a victory in the win column. The LA Rams won’t catch them napping in this one.

Meanwhile, the Rams won the first game, but clearly have to clean up a few things. The first game of the football season is a bit of a mystery, as the Rams did not play starters. That meant that the team was learning about one another from the first snap of the football. But not everything about the football team hummed in perfect synchronization. In fact, without even trying very hard, we were able to identify four areas of the team that must improve for the Rams to win in Week 2.

That same troubleshooting process happens each game week with all 32 NFL teams (or less when BYE weeks begin). And just as the Rams hope to patch the holes in their road, the Colts are doing so as well. That means that the Rams cannot expect to have the same success as the Colts’ Week 1 opponent, the Seattle Seahawks. With that in mind, the Rams must create a game plan that emphasizes their strengths and allows this team the best chances of success. To do that, we believe these keys will be critical to ensuring that the Rams finish Week 2 with a win.
