Rams Game Sunday: Bucs vs. Rams odds and prediction for NFL Week 3
By Bret Stuter
The LA Rams are 2-0, and yet there is as much if not more conversation about what’s wrong with this team than about what’s right with it. In all honesty, that is just fine with me. As the team learned after going 2-0 in 2020, it’s almost impossible to judge the quality of an NFL team in just two games. But by the third game of the season, the picture starts to take shape.
The team enjoyed a strong win at home against a historically difficult opponent in the Chicago Bears. Conversely, the team had an ugly win on the road against a well-coached Indianapolis Colts team that was 11-5 just months earlier. Two different games. Two different victories. Now the LA Rams must prepare for their toughest opponent yet, and perhaps the toughest team on the schedule this year, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The LA Rams were able to defeat the Buccaneers in 2020 in Tampa Bay. It was probably the best game that the Rams played all season. For the Bucs, they lost just one more time the following week to the Kansas City Chiefs. After that? They never looked back as they won the next eight consecutive games to get to and win out in the NFL Playoffs and Super Bowl LV.
So far this year, the Buccaneers defense has been surrendering 27 points per game. But they can get away with that because the offense is averaging just under 40 points per game. If any team wants to beat the Bucs, they had better plan to score lots and lots of points.
Buccaneers vs. Rams Odds Week 3
The Week 3 betting odds on WynnBET have Los Angeles as a 1.0-point favorite (-105) at home. The Buccaneers are a 1.0 point underdog (-115) on the road. While that seems like a small margin, it’s already factoring in the Rams’ home-field advantage. This line will likely change as the game nears, so you could place your wager later in the week if you feel that the odds will be better then.
The moneyline for this one is essentially a pick’em, as the oddsmakers have the LA Rams sitting at -100 odds, identical to that of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at -110. To bet the moneyline, you are picking a team to win straight up. If you believe the Rams will win, you must bet $110 to win $100. If you believe the Bucs win this one, you need to bet just $110 to win a purse of $100.
The total for the game is set at an over/under of 55.0 points at -115. To bet the over or under in this one, you need to bet $115 to win $100. If you like the under at -105, you need only to bet $105 to win $100.
Buccaneers vs. Rams Prediction Week 3
The LA Rams are now 2-0 and face their greatest test of the season in hosting the defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who also enter this one with a record of 2-0. The fact is that this game will be the only one pitting undefeated teams against one another. The only question is, which team will remain so?
Clearly, oddsmakers are a bit torn on this one, and for good reason. The Buccaneers are the defending Super Bowl Champions, and that brings its own bit of respect along with it. But the LA Rams are no slouches either. This is a team that defeated the Buccaneers a year ago and has now gone out and upgraded the team at quarterback. While the Buccaneers are putting up a ton of points, they are giving up a ton of yards through the air on defense.
And the LA Rams are getting a ton of yards through the air on offense.
I love the over in this one. This could rival the infamous shootout between the Kansas City Chiefs against the LA Rams where the Rams won by a final score of 54-51 on Monday Night Football on November 19, 2018. With the Buccaneers’ offense averaging 40 points a game, the Rams have to prepare for this one with an offensive game plan to score 45 or more. Thankfully, I believe that the Rams offense can put up 45+ points.
As far as who to go with? The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are tied for first place in the NFC South Division with the Carolina Panthers. Meanwhile, the Rams are in a three-way tie with the Arizona Cardinals and the San Francisco 49ers for first place in the NFC West Division. The Rams are at home and have more pressure to win in this one. Since this is essentially a pick’em game, I recommend giving one point and taking the Rams. But keep an eye on the odds. In the 60 minutes or so to write this article, the over has already jumped from 54.5 to 55.
Our recommendations:
Over 55.0 (-115)
LA Rams (-1.0) (-105)
