Why the LA Rams pass rush is key to containing Tom Brady’s passing

IV: Harness the young horses
The LA Rams have a number of new young faces on defense. That includes Bobby Brown III, Michael Hoecht, Jonah Williams, and even Chris Garrett. So far, the young quartet has been relatively quiet. That’s not very surprising, as the Rams’ defense boasts solid depth and talent on the defensive front.
Of the group, only two young defenders have even seen the field of play on defense. 6-foot-5, 275-pound defensive end Jonah Williams has played 24 defensive snaps and has one tackle to show for it. His teammate, 6-foot-4, 310-pound defensive lineman Michael Hoecht, has played just 15 snaps in two games. He also has one tackle to show for it.
Of course, the most intriguing players who have yet to get a defensive snap are defensive lineman Bobby Brown III, and outside linebacker Chris Garrett. Garrett has flashed an incredible ability to get after and bring down NFL quarterbacks in the preseason. Unfortunately, the Rams had to place Garrett under quarantine as per the NFL COVID-19 protocol. He is now back on the active roster, and should the Rams have him active for this one, he could be devastatingly effective.
Another potential burr-in-Brady’s-saddle is defensive lineman Bobby Brown III. The 6-foot-4, 325-pound defensive behemoth can be a very disruptive force on the defensive line. His training camp was interrupted due to thumb surgery, he also flashed serious NFL potential in preseason. He is incredibly powerful and can drive offensive linemen in directions that they don’t want to go. Combine his power with Garrett’s blazing speed off the corner, and the Buccaneers may not have a suitable answer.
