To say that the LA Rams should be searching for reinforcements at their outside linebacker position is an extreme understatement. With starter Justin Hollins going on IR for an estimated 10 weeks, the LA Rams are down to just three healthy active players. That includes: Leonard Floyd, who is nursing an injured ankle; Terrell Lewis, who is nursing an injured knee; And rookie Chris Garrett, just released from reserve/COVID-19 quarantine.

Of course, the Rams hope to return Ogbonnia Okoronkwo to the active roster, after spending the month of September 2021 on IR recovering from a shoulder injury. And there is Justin Lawler, the outside linebacker who has already be activated the maximum number of times from the practice squad. He is also recovering from a broken hand that is currently in a cast.

But sometimes things have a way of working out for a team bound for greatness, as long as the team acts at the moment some new solution presents itself.  Ladies and gentlemen of the LA Rams fanbase? May I present a solution that has just presented itself: OLB Jamie Collins

Collins could be an ideal solution for the LA Rams’ shallow depth at the outside linebacker position. He stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 255-pounds. He has ten years of experience playing in the NFL, with the New England Patriots, the Cleveland Browns, and the Detroit Lions. While he arrived in Detroit after A’Shawn Robinson signed with the Rams, he did play a year with Matthew Stafford with the Lions.

He has not been much of a sack specialist. in 10 seasons and 125 games, he’s only managed 25.5 quarterback sacks. But he is a very productive tackler, with 686 tackles, 61 tackles for a loss, and 51 quarterback hits. He has also managed 11 interceptions in his career, including a pick-six in 2019. He has also broken up 36 passes over his career as well.

Trending. Some last minute thoughts about the LA Rams Week 3 victory. light

The Lions want to clear playing time for their younger players. The Rams want to win now. There really are few promising options in the NFL Free Agency market at outside linebacker right now. The LA Rams need to act quickly because several teams are interested in Collins. He won’t be available by gametime Sunday.

Let’s see what happens.
