Bold prediction VI: Robert Woods will get 120+ yards, 1 TD

The focus of the defense in this one will be on WR Cooper Kupp and DeSean Jackson. So look out, because here comes wide receiver Robert Woods. So far, that hasn’t mattered a smidge. Robert Woods has had games with 27 yards and one touchdown, 64 yards, and 33 yards. Not a very impressive track record so far, is it?

Well, that is exactly what the LA Rams want the Arizona Cardinals to think. Are the LA Rams playing possum? I don’t think that is the dynamics at play here, but it will certainly appear that way if Woods has the type of breakout game I believe he is capable of.

The Cardinals pass defense relies on a pass rush and an opportunistic secondary to thwart opposing offenses. But will they be able to handle the Rams passing offense that can field five receivers with an open backfield?  So far this season, the answer is no.  In fact, the Cardinals begin to struggle with the third wide receiver.

In the Cardinals defense, Cooper Kupp has to be the top wide receiver. After his breakout game in Week 3, DeSean Jackson will likely be their secondary target. That means that the Rams can expect to get some good looks at Robert Woods, Van Jefferson, Tyler Higbee, and maybe even Tutu Atwell or Ben Skowronek.

Woods is more than overdue for a big game. He’ll get plenty of targets in this one, especially if he brings down the first several for large gains. Woods is a grinder, a player who does everything that is asked of him. In this one, the Rams will ask him to have a huge game.

Consider it done.
