The LA Rams are 3-1 and are on the road on a short week following a pretty sound thumping at the hands of the Arizona Cardinals. Now, the Rams need to forget what was and focus on their next opponent, the resurgent Seattle Seahawks who are 2-2 and trying to win their second NFC West Division game in two weeks.

As we had pointed out last week, divisional opponents are important games as they not only are involved in all tie-breakers, but they are in direct competition for the division lead.

The Seattle Seahawks host the Rams, after playing on the road to claim a surprising victory over the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 28-21.

The LA Rams defeated the Seattle Seahawks in Seattle when the two teams clashed in the Wildcard Round of the NFL Playoffs last year. But as we just experienced against the Cardinals, that was then, this is now. After that loss, Seattle poached LA Rams pass-game coordinator Shane Waldron to be their offensive coordinator. They also added former Rams tight end Gerald Everett.

The Seahawks are not as effective on offense as the Arizona Cardinals, but they can put points on the board. They continue to give up quarterback sacks, allowing 11 so far in just four games. The Rams defense has recorded 12 sacks to date, so that should favor the Rams. But Russell Wilson is certainly stretching the field this year, averaging 9.6 yards per pass attempt, scoring nine touchdowns, and throwing no interceptions.

The Seahawks have a solid running game too. They average 107 yards per game and have scored five times on the ground.

The Seahawks have been horrible on defense so far this year, dead last in yards allowed with 445 yards per game. Their run defense allows 152.0 yards per game, which is 31st in the NFL. They also allow 292.5 passing yards per game, which is only 28th ranked in the NFL.  Despite all of the real estate they give up, they stiffen up considerably when giving up points. Their 25.0 points per game are good for 20th-ranked in the NFL, just below the LA Rams 24.8 points per game.

Rams vs. Seahawks Odds, Spread, Over/Under & Betting Pick Week 4

Odds are courtesy of WynnBET (but are subject to change quickly)

Point Spread

  • Rams -1.0 (-110)
  • Seahawks +1.0 (-110)

Money Line

  • Rams -115
  • Seahawks -105

Over/Under 53.5 points

  • Over -110
  • Under -110

Recommended Bets:

Take the Rams at -1.0 (-110)
Take the Rams on the Moneyline (-115) to win outright

The Moneyline for this one will move quickly, as the oddsmakers are still trying to decipher what the LA Rams loss at home means. The Seahawks are back home and were favored right out of the gates. But the Rams play tough after a loss, and the opening line of +1.0 has now become a -1.0 for the Rams. That remains very nearly a pick’em.  If you wanted points, you missed your chance. I do expect that the Rams will treat Week 4 as a wake-up call, and won’t lose two consecutive divisional games.

The total for the game is set at an over/under of 53.5 points at -110. To bet the over or under in this one, you need to bet $110 to win $100. If you like the under at -110, you need to bet $110 to win $100.

We were 0-3 in our recommendations for Week 4. Hopefully, we’ll be back on the winning track in Week 5.

Rams vs. Seahawks Prediction Week 4

The LA Rams are now 3-1 and reeling after a surprising and thorough thrashing at the hands of their divisional rivals, the Arizona Cardinals. They wanted to be 4-0 at this point, but they simply did not show up effectively at SoFi Stadium.

Even though the Rams lost, it was a good game to prepare them for the Seattle Seahawks. (Let’s pray that someone reminds Matthew Stafford and the Rams offense to practice a silent count for this one).

Although 2-2, the Seahawks’ two losses have come at the hands of the Tenessee Titans and the Minnesota Vikings, both of whom could be pretty good teams by the end of the season. Of course, the Rams have only lost once but did so in such a way that few can call them the favorite in this game.

The Rams will face the best that the Seahawks have, which could be very frustrating after losing to the Cardinals. If there is a silver lining, I think that the Rams will certainly try to run in this one (famous last words, right?) and do a better job of trying to help the defense out. Time of possession going the other team’s way appears to be fatiguing the Rams. Russell Wilson is a very good mobile quarterback, and if the defense fails to contain him, he can run forever.

The defense needs help. Hopefully, the offense will do more than turnovers or instant scores, and help them get a win in this one.

Our recommendations:
Take the Rams at -1.0 (-110)
Take the Rams on the Moneyline (-115) to win outright
