After making six bold predictions for Week 4, and not getting a single one correct, I’m not as comfortable making so many brash and bold predictions. So let’s reel it back to a more reasonable four and see if we can’t get some positive momentum restored.

Both the LA Rams and the Seattle Seahawks are in spots where you could argue that both need to win this game. From Seattle’s standpoint, a loss to the Rams will send them back to a sub-.500 record of 2-3, places them at least two games behind NFC West frontrunner, the Arizona Cardinals, and calls into question their chances for a playoff berth.

If the Rams lose, they will fall to 3-2 in that scenario. The difference is that the Rams will have suffered both losses to NFC West competition. That scenario practically forces the Rams to sweep the remaining four NFC West contests to have any chance of winning the NFC West. Even then they will be no better than 4-2 in the NFC West.

So this one is as much about getting the win as it is about avoiding a loss, one that will deal a heavy blow to either team’s playoff hopes.

Will the familiarity of one another play a role in this one? Probably. But both teams will attempt to change it up a bit. So what predictions do we have for you in this one? Read on…

Bold prediction I

The LA Rams have allowed a 100+ yard game from one running back in two of their four games so far this year. Look for the Rams run defense to hold Seahawks RB Chris Carson (or their main rusher) to under 90 yards. Right now, Carson is battling a neck injury and is reportedly not expected to suit up for Thursday Night Football.

If not, the duties will fall to Alex Collins. So far, Collins has been more of a change of pace runner.

But it won’t all be stout defensive play. Look for the Rams to take the lead quickly in this one, which will force the Seahawks to take a more aggressive game plan in this one.

Stopping the run will be the Rams’ number one goal on defense.
