Bold prediction IV

The LA Rams are getting three quarterback sacks per game. Literally. No more. No less. In the first four games of the season, the Rams defense has sacked the opposing quarterback 12 times. They have done so with the help of seven different defensive players on the roster, including defensive back Taylor Rapp.

Well, I expect that Week 5 will be a bit different. The All-Pro defensive lineman Aaron Donald has been a bit too quiet this year. In four games, he has just two quarterback sacks and 13 total tackles. Historically, Donald has not been a volume tackler. Rather, he is an impact player. He shows up large in the largest games in the most critical times.

He’ll show up in this one.

And what exactly does that mean? It means that Aaron Donald and one other defensive player will have 2+ quarterback sacks apiece in Week 5.

The natives are restless. Opponents have scored 99 points on the Rams so far in four games. While that itself is a bit concerning considering the teams faced so far, a bigger concern is that the defense seems to be regressing rapidly. The best showing for the Rams so far was holding Chicago Bears quarterback Andy Dalton to 14 points in the season opener.

It’s clear that the Rams defense is desperate for some good news, for a player who can lift up his teammates to new heights. That player will likely be Aaron Donald. Donald is no stranger to sacking Russell Wilson, and he will do so in this one. If the Rams can shut down the Seahawks run game early and make the, a one-dimensional offense, look for the Rams to pin their ears back and break their streak of three quarterback sacks in this one.
