Key V: Take away the Giants ‘go to’ receiver

New York Giants quarterback Danial Jones will play, but he will be without running back Saquon Barkley or wide receiver Kenny Golladay. Even wide receivers Darius Slayton and Kadarious Toney are questionable for Week 6.

Jones will feel the pressure and will scramble quickly to create a connection with a receiver, any receiver. The Rams’ secondary simply cannot let him get comfortable throwing to anyone. That means that each and every defensive back on the Rams’ defense needs to play their best game of the season.

Is Daniel Jones that good? Well, he is that desperate.

Daniel Jones does not have the same stable of receivers that the LA Rams possess. But he has legs that can carry him out of danger, he has young vibrant energy in the pocket, and he faces a team that nobody expects him to defeat.

And he is getting the Rams on his football field.

Hey, he’s got nothing to lose by trying to make something happen. And the more time that he plays and the more passes that he completes, the more confident that he will grow. The Rams do not want to allow that to take place.

Even in a game where the best bet for the Giants’ to find success is the short routes, Jones loves to push the ball down the field. That means that both Taylor Rapp and Jordan Fuller will need to play solid pass defense. Hopefully, both will rise to the challenge.

If the Rams start this one hot, they could jump out to a huge lead by halftime and never look back. But the team is on the road, playing on the East Coast, and heavily favored. That usually means hold your breath because anything can happen. Let’s hope that something happens that has not happened in a very long time. Let’s see the Rams win a game that they are supposed to win by a big score.  Now that would be something special.
