The LA Rams have a complete and fully stocked offensive arsenal for veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford. They have the second most prolific receiver in the NFL in Cooper Kupp. They have the ever-dependable team-first receiver in Robert Woods. They have an electrifying second-year receiver whose speed and route running are underestimated in Van Jefferson. And they even have a tight end who could easily put up 1000 yards in a single season if the Rams would route more of the offense through him in Tyler Higbee.

But for Week 7, look for the Rams to get DeSean Jackson more involved.  Much more involved.

Let’s be honest. In six games, DeSean Jackson has been targetted 14 times. He has played 96 offensive snaps, which works out to 25 percent of the time. So far, that smacks of decoy. But to be an effective decoy, teams have to fear his potential.

Fearing LA Rams DeSean Jackson is contagious

31 NFL teams will likely be reminded of why they should fear DeSean Jackson in the LA Rams offense this week.  And they needn’t do so by throwing the ball his way 10+ times. That’s not who the fleet-footed speedster is in this offense. Rather, all he needs to do is catch the ball three or four times and put up over 100 yards receiving. The more touchdowns the better.

That ought to do it. After all, he is averaging over 27.7 yards per catch. You don’t need to throw to him in bulk. Send him deep downfield, get the football to him, and watch him score. That’s it. Once Jackson has blown the lid off the back of the defense, the offense will have plenty of football field to work with.

Must Read. Even as Jared Goff was disappointed in how he was traded, Lions HC Campbell is disappointed in Goff's play. light

Jackson is the offensive weapon that the Rams use against weak secondaries. The Rams threw to Jackson five times for three receptions and 120 yards and a touchdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  While Jared Goff is not as dangerous as Tom Brady, the Lions’ secondary is vulnerable to a fast receiver over the top.

And putting the Detroit Lions behind early will give the Rams defense a chance to pin their ears back and go after the Lions quarterback.

There are few better options in Week 7 than allowing DeSean Jackson to jump-start the LA Rams offense right out of the gates, putting the Lions in a deep deficit, and then controlling the clock for the win.

To be honest, there is no better way to make use of DeSean Jackson than the way the LA Rams are using him this season. He is like the fine china on display that is used on special occasions. Well, two former players, Jared Goff and Michael Brockers are coming back to SoFi Stadium. The LA Rams might as well welcome them back with the fine china.

120 yards and a touchdown? That’s DeSean Jackson’s season-best so far. He could top that in Week 7.
