12 – Washington Football Team

With a record of 2-5, the Washington Football Team may be justified in considering regrouping, rebuilding, and going for a stronger roster for the 2022 NFL season. The only trouble is, veteran offensive guard Brandon Scherff is likely beyond the ‘let’s rebuild again?’ phase of his NFL career.

The Rams have solid connections to Scherff. Their current offensive line coach, Kevin Carberry, was his coach when he joined the NFL as a rookie. Since that point in time, Scherff has had a well-storied and lauded NFL career. Now, he wants to get a ring. He can help the LA Rams do exactly that.

While the LA Rams offensive line is outstanding in pass protection so far, they are still a bit on the weak side when it comes to creating running lanes.  Adding Scherff now allows the Rams an opportunity to place give David Edwards the option of playing at offensive tackle, his natural position.

And Scherff would be a tremendous fit alongside Andrew Whitworth, a player who is still starting on the offensive line as he approaches his 40th birthday. Scherff has a snarling finish-the-block mindset that will help Brian Allen focus his efforts. Adding new faces to an already cohesive offensive line can be risky. But Scherff is a pro and has a complete understanding of Coach Carberry’s philosophy.
