30 – Chicago Bears

The LA Rams would be delighted to have better depth at their tight end position, and veteran tight end Jesse James would be an ideal player to acquire to fill that void. After all, he was once a teammate of quarterback Matthew Stafford for two seasons with the Detroit Lions before signing on with the Chicago Bears team in 2021.

James had a solid reputation as a blocking tight end with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was not as effective when he played for the Lions for two seasons, which led to his departure after just two seasons. He signed on with the Bears and is playing more of a special team’s role than one with the offense.

Of course, the LA Rams have several tight-end options right now, which is why none were added when Johnny Mundt fell to injury and was lost for the season. But the Rams had a spot for Mundt, if for no other reason than he could deliver a block when needed, and deliver a reception in an emergency. Jesse James can do that.

The Bears are chock-full of tight ends this year, so trading away James would not impact their win-loss potential one bit. But the LA Rams have relied upon two tight-end formations, and right now Brycen Hopkins does not have the confidence of the coaching staff, and Jacob Harris is more wide receiver than tight end, regardless of the routes he has been coached.

The Rams need a blocking tight end. Right now, Jesse James looks like a pretty good option. Not to mention, he has played alongside Matthew Stafford.
