Upgraded Edge corps

The Rams outside linebackers have gone from a near-disaster to what may now be the strongest unit on the team, let alone the defense. The Rams now have five outside linebackers on the active roster, one on injured reserve, and one on the practice squad. So who are they? So glad that you asked. This is the current LA Rams roster (as of 11/2/2021)

Name                   Def Snaps      Sacks     Tkls
Leonard Floyd       430                6.5            35
Von Miller               330                4.5            19
Terrell Lewis          280                3.0            18
Jamir Jones               41                0.0              3
Ogbo Okoronkwo 140                1.5              7
Chris Garrett               4                0.0              0

Practice Squad and Injured Reserve

Name                   Def Snaps      Sacks     Tkls
Justin Lawler (PS)       18             0.0           1
Justin Hollins (IR)       150            2.0         12

The Rams primarily run a four-player rotation at the outside. As Justin Hollins returns from injured reserve, the Rams will activate him, but I suspect will deploy him as an inside linebacker going forward. I don’t think that the Rams will tinker much with Terrell Lewis. Right now, he’s delivering at a pretty good pace.

The lone player I fear who may be demoted is that of OLB Chris Garrett, a player with solid upside, but one who is now burdened with inexperience and buried on a deep depth chart is Chris Garrett. It will fall between either Garrett or Jamir Jones to slide back to the practice squad. Unfortunately, Garrett may not offer as much potential on special teams as Jamir Jones.
