Baldinger expects another LA Rams star to rise over SoFi stadium

The LA Rams are a team that is built on signing the best players in the NFL, and then building around them. It’s not anything new.  The NBA has been building rosters like that for decades. But that sport builds a roster around three superstars, and then sends five players onto the basketball court.   NFL teams have been unable to replicate that template because those teams send at least 25 different players onto the football field.

Until now, at least.

When @SkySportsNFL interviewed one of my favorite NFL analysts, Brian Baldinger, the topic was… you guessed it, the Rams acquisition of Denver Broncos OLB Von Miller.  What makes Baldy’s perspective so inciteful is that he talks about the LA Rams being built on stars. Just like NBA teams. And if Brian Baldinger says it, you can take it to the bank.

He lists his five LA Rams stars as head coach Sean McVay, All-Pro defensive back Jalen Ramsey, All-Pro defensive lineman Aaron Donald, Pro Bowler quarterback Matthew Stafford, and wide receiver Cooper Kupp.

Now, Baldy asserts that All-Pro OLB Von Miller will rise once more on the Rams defense that also includes DB Darious Williams, OLB Leonard Floyd, and NT Sebastian Joseph Day.  And the LA Rams have done this by trading picks for proven players.

The Miami Dolphins have used 12 first-round draft picks over the past five years, yet that team is entering Week 9 with a record of 1-7. The LA Rams have used 0 first-round draft picks over the past five years, and they enter Week 9 with a record of 7-1. There is no homerism involved there, just basic facts.

We see it the same way. The tandem of Von Miller coupled with Leonard Floyd will be a huge improvement as the Rams defense tries to corral mobile quarterbacks like Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray or Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Of course, it’s all rhetoric until the LA Rams put it down on the football field. But Brian Baldinger is one of the best NFL analysts out there. He won’t blow smoke for any NFL team. If he says that the newest LA Rams outside linebacker, Von Miller, will be a star for the LA Rams defense, he will be a star for the LA Rams defense.

And you can take that to the bank.
