After a drubbing on the prime time televised stage on Sunday Night Football, the LA Rams have a chance to regroup on the stage of another prime time televised stage, this time that of Monday Night Football.  But there is a problem. They must travel to San Francisco and do something that this team has not done for several years, defeat the 49ers.

The Rams should have the confidence to do so, as the team is currently 7-2 and has lost to the top two teams in the NFL: The Arizona Cardinals and the Tennessee Titans. But the Titans did two things that have shaken confidence in the fanbase. First of all, the Titans’ defensive line dominated the offensive line in such a way that seemed as though nobody could protect quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Perhaps even worse than that, the Titans proved that LA Rams head coach Sean McVay may have panicked, or at least froze, by sticking to a flawed game plan regardless of the fact that the Titans were clearly prepared to negate whatever the offense might throw at them, literally.

You can bet that the Rams are going to face a lot more of the same this week. The 49ers could face this team without a win and even if their opponent was undefeated, this game would remain a huge challenge. But this is a San Francisco 49ers team with a very capable pass defense and a week run defense, so you already know that Sean McVay’s game plan will be pass pass pass, right?

The odd thing is that the 49ers give up yards through the air begrudgingly, but have allowed 12 touchdown passes so far on the year to just two interceptions. They have also allowed 12 rushing touchdowns so far this season.

Statistically, the Rams offense and defense are among the NFL’s Top-10. The 49ers are middle of the pack. Perhaps the key statistic to watch is that turnover. The Rams enter the game at +5, while the 49ers bear the burden of -9. If the Rams win the turnover battle, they should win the game.

Rams vs 49ers Odds, Spread, Over/Under & Betting Pick Week 10

Odds are courtesy of WynnBET (but are subject to change quickly)

Point Spread

  • Rams -4.0 (-110)
  • 49ers +4.0 (-110)

Money Line

  • Rams -200
  • 49ers +175

Over/Under 49.5 points

  • Over -110
  • Under -110

Recommended Bets:

Take the Rams on the Moneyline (-200) to win outright

The Moneyline for this one will move this week. Which direction? That’s unclear right now.

I don’t like betting on divisional rivalries, and the 49ers games simply frighten me when the time comes to put down some money. Right now, the spread at (-4.0) means that the Rams must win by more than a field goal +1. If you think that the Rams are capable of winning this one, don’t look for them to squeak one out. They should cover the spread.

The total for the game is set at an over/under of 49.5 points at -110. To bet the over or under in this one, you need to bet $110 to win $100. If you like the under at -110, you need to bet $110 to win $100.

I am leaning to the under in this one. I can see both teams’ defenses clamping down a bit for this contest.

Rams vs 49ers Prediction Week 10

The Rams were very much embarrassed in Week 9, in anticipation of meeting their divisional rival in Week 10? Who can say? We know that the coaching staff held out newly acquired outside linebacker Von Miller, likely to make this debut in this one.

I like the LA Rams pass rush to be a factor in this one. At 28 quarterback sacks over nine games, the defense is averaging 3.1 sack-per-game. In Week 10, the defense will add Von Miller to the mix, and after his watching helplessly from the sideline, you can bet he will announce his arrival to the NFC with a huge game.

I have to think that after getting tossed around like a ragdoll, the team will give serious consideration to lightening up the load on veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford for this one. Ideally, that translates into a balanced run/pass split that will feature a semblance of rushing.

Our recommendations:

Take the Rams on the Moneyline (-200) to win outright
Take the Rams (-4.0) to win and give up the points (-110)
