Both are built to win now
The LA Rams are finalizing a deal with Odell Beckham Jr. right now. He will be with the team on a one-year deal, long enough to get the team to the 2021 NFL Playoffs, and hopefully to and beyond Super Bowl LVI
Is that a good thing? Many fans have been strongly opposed to the idea of adding the veteran wide receiver. But is that based on logic or a defensive mechanism to tamp down unbridled optimism? We’ll sort it all out in the summary.
Former Browns’ WR Odell Beckham Jr is finalizing a deal with the Los Angeles Rams, per sources.

There is nothing inherently wrong with a player who wants to belong to a championship team. It’s what drew Rob Gronkowski out of retirement to seek to play once more with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It’s what drew Antonio Brown to sign with the same Bucs, a team that was already quite loaded at wide receiver.
The LA Rams are built to win now. They just are. Look at the roster now, and then at the projected free agents in 2022. There is a Pro Bowl team projected to leave the Rams roster in NFL Free Agency next season.
But Odell Beckham Jr. is not committing his NFL future to the Rams. Rather, he is giving them one season to get it done. If he doesn’t like the Rams? Off he goes to the NFL Free Agency market as well to sign with a new team. That, of course, will likely trigger consideration for the LA Rams to be awarded a compensatory pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
