So that’s why the LA Rams picked up RB Sony Michel?

Are the pieces of this LA Rams offense finally starting to come together? After all the him-hawing, rethinking, and downright procrastination, the LA Rams finally committed to running the football. Thankfully, the team had Sony Michel to hand the ball to in the backfield. Were there some miscues? Yes, and there likely will be more going forward.

We know all-too-well how the LA Rams can fixate on one player, at the expense of giving other viable candidates any meaningful work, don’t we? If you don’t agree, just ask Coleman Shelton or Brian Allen how much work they got with the starting offensive linemen before the pads went on.

Ultimately, the team committed to running with the football and did so. In fact, the team even added backup offensive tackle Joseph Noteboom to the line of scrimmage, and he did an outstanding job of sealing the edge, giving his opponent a formidable wall to get past to get to the rusher.

No folks, you can’t get away with the claim of “They were only the Jags,” remark. The Jacksonville Jaguars’ run defense is on par with such opponents as that of the San Francisco 49ers and the Arizona Cardinals. On a per-carry basis, the Jaguars’ run defense is the eighth-ranked defense in the NFL. And yet, the Rams ran right through them.

The difference is that the Rams offensive strategy was such that the team did not come out throwing, and therefore did not fall behind quickly, and therefore could continue to stick with the rushing attack.

Finally, the Rams offense dictated what happened on the football field. That took the pressure off the defense and special teams. Just the Jaguars? No. Just the LA Rams getting back to Rams football.
