Injured Reserve

Let’s begin this rapid roster review by going down the list of players who have been placed on injured reserve.

The LA Rams have 11 players on Injured Reserve as of December 15, 2021. They are:

DB Robert Rochell – a chest injury that should heal up (hopefully) in time for post-season play.
ILB Travin Howardhamstring injury that should heal up in time for in-season return.
NT Sebastian Joseph Day * (also on COVID-19 Reserve) – underwent corrective surgery for injured pectoral muscle, and has an outside chance of returning for the playoffs.
OL Jamil Demby – reverted to Rams IR after clearing waivers following release due to undisclosed injury.
RB Cam Akers – Torn Achilles Tendon – working hard to return to the team in time for NFL Playoffs
RB Jake Funk – hamstring injury, expected out for the season.
RB Buddy Howell –  hamstring injury, expected out for the season
TE Johnny Mundt – ACL injury, out for the season.
TE/WR Jacob Harris – ACL/MCL injury, out for the season
WR Tutu Atwell – projected season-ending shoulder injury
WR Robert Woods – Torn ACL, out for the season

(boldly named players may return for NFL Playoffs)

The Rams roster has successfully rehabbed and restored DB Darious Williams, OLB Ogboonia Okoronkwo, and LB Justin Hollins to the active 53-man roster so far this season. In addition to the listed players, the LA Rams also waived RB Xavier Jones (Achilles) and RB Raymond Calais (foot) prior to the start of the regular season with injury settlements.

Right now, there is a wishful optimism over the team’s chances of getting back Rochell, Howard, SJD, and even Akers in time for the 2021 NFL Playoffs. But even if they all are medically cleared, there will be a lot of rust to knock off in live win-or-go-home action.
