The LA Rams have more news about players who are returning in time to suit up for their Week 15 contest against the visiting Seattle Seahawks.  The team has removed veteran outside linebacker Von Miller and inside linebacker Christian Rozeboom from the Reserve/COVID-19 list and activated both RB Jake Funk and LB Travin Howard from Injured Reserve.

These transactions leave 16 players remaining on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, three from the team’s practice squad and 13 from the team’s active roster.  The Rams outside linebacker position is now at optimal depth, with only Ogbonnia Okoronkwo remaining out of action.

Getting Von Miller is huge, as the team now has much better options on how to deploy versatile linebacker Justin Hollins, and can keep rookie Ernest Jones fresh if needed.

Von Miller is hunting quarterbacks

While Miller continues to seek his first quarterback sack in an LA Rams uniform, don’t be naive in thinking he has not been a huge plus to this LA Rams defense. He has done exactly what the team has needed, contain mobile quarterbacks well enough to allow Aaron Donald to bring them down.

And yes, Russell Wilson is a mobile quarterback. Now the new Rams edge-rusher is hoping for a little love in return, and getting his hands on Wilson for his first Rams quarterback sack. Look for one, and perhaps more, to happen in Week 15.

Historically, the LA Rams have had good success at getting to Russell Wilson in the past. Not only has Aaron Donald been quite a terror, but last year both Leonard Floyd and Terrell Lewis were incredibly effective coming off the edge to bring down Wilson. Miller is hungry and will be coming off the edge in this one as well. This one has the feel and all the makings for a big game out of Miller.

Rams roster remains a challenge

While getting Von Miller back is huge, the Rams roster remains an enigma in both the secondary and at right offensive tackle. Right now, both Rob Havenstein and his Week 14 replacement, Joseph Noteboom, remain on the team’s COVID list. That not only forces the LA Rams to start a rather untested offensive lineman at right tackle, most likely OT Bobby Evans but will limit the team’s ability to send a sixth offensive lineman onto the field for power running personnel packages.

Defensive back Jordan Fuller also remains on the list. That not only hurts the team’s pass coverage considerably, but Fuller’s defensive play-calling will likely now go to rookie Ernest Jones. So far, Jones has played spectacularly in the past two games, both of which were victories. Can he handle the additional duties, while dominating in the middle of the defense? Let’s hope so.

Finally, the team will not get TE Tyler Higbee back. In Week 14, the Rams went with TE Kendall Blanton, who caught two of three targets for 29 yards. Look for him to have a similar type of game, with a handful of targets and perhaps some key receptions to move the chains.

We do not have any additional information at this time regarding Seattle Seahawks transactions involving players before tonight’s game.
