LA Rams sending four to Pro Bowl, but Stafford and Whitworth huge snubs

In November 2021, we urged you, the LA Rams fans, to cast your votes to send your favorite and most deserving LA Rams players to the NFL Pro Bowl. We doubled down in December 2021, reminding everyone that they could now Tweet-cast votes for NFL players to the Pro Bowl. The result?

The LA Rams are sending four players to the NFL Pro Bowl, and each is very deserving. But somehow, votes came up short for two of the most deserving players on the team. You see, neither quarterback Matthew Stafford nor sage offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth is among them, and that is a huge snub.

So who are the four representing the LA Rams? The Rams are sending defensive tackle Aaron Donald, defensive back Jalen Ramsey, wide receiver Cooper Kupp, and placekicker Matt Gay.  Those are all very deserving players and deserve to be discussed.

The Rams have made a solid representation this year, but with the team that is tied for the second-best record in the NFL, it’s surprising that not more players were lauded with this honor.

How are Pro Bowlers selected?

The Pro Bowl selection process is the only professional sports selection process that combines the votes of fans, players, and coaches to arrive at their final selections. The process is not without its flaws, and each season the results of who is selected to represent their teams face an onslaught of criticisms over snubbing worthy players, selecting players who have not played, or simply choosing players by name recognition alone.

There is an inherent bias to players from the East Coast, and from that subset breaking it down further towards players who compete in the more northern region. That is simply due to the fact that is where the highest concentration of football fans and teams resides. But fan votes were only one-third of the total process. So what happened to the remedies of players and coaches?
