If you sit down to think about the sensational season that LA Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp is putting on this year, you could find yourself in utter disbelief. In fact, Cooper Kupp is having such an incredible season, that he is already 19th on the NFL All-Time Receiving Yards list. And he has three games to go.
Here is all he has done so far this year:
Now, this is a season with a new quarterback in Matthew Stafford, and after missing the playoffs last year due to a knee injury. But this year, everything is A.O.K. and his performance is the result.
If Kupp puts up 100 yards in Week 16, he jumps on the All-Time list from 19th to seventh place. 60 more yards and he sets a new Rams All-Time Franchise record for receiving yards in one season, beating the current record of 1,781 yards held by Rams legend, Isaac Bruce.
While his 14 touchdown receptions are not within reach of the NFL’s All-Time single-season record of 23 touchdowns set by Randy Moss in 2007, he could certainly land among the Top-10 receivers of all time simply by scoring three more touchdowns over the last three games.
Kupp does it all well
You might expect the LA Rams to bubble wrap the guy who is so important to their offense, but that is not the case whatsoever. Primarily out of need, the Rams have used Kupp in both kick returns and punt returns this year. The team even has rushed him twice and used him to throw once this season.
But he is also an unsung hero at blocking, even so much as to hold his own against defensive lineman just long enough to spring the running back into an open running lane. In fact, it is Kupp’s ability to block that has been one of the most respected talents among his teammates and opponents.
Kupp is absolutely crushing it this season, to the point where several franchise- and NFL records may fall this season. Most of all, Kupp is vitally important to the LA Rams offense, accounting for more than a third of the receiving touchdowns for the team, and slightly less than half of the receiving yardage for the team.
If that is not an NFL MVP season, then really what is?
