The LA Rams have been playing and winning for two weeks without tight end Tyler Higbee. The Rams defense played an outstanding game without defensive signal-caller Jordan Fuller. But now, the LA Rams will have the chance to compete with both starters suiting up to face the Minnesota Vikings in another critical game on Week 16.

Now, the team and fans will get to see how well the Rams can handle the Vikings with the defense back to full strength. Not just back, but expectedly well-rested for the game. And per ESPN’s NFL reporter Adam Schefter, both are expected to play this Sunday.

The news this week has been incredibly positive for the LA Rams. Once managing 29 players on the team’s Reserve/COVID-19 list, the team is now down to just four players under the NFL/NFLPA COVID-19 protocols.

Now the team must make the two corresponding moves to free up the two slots necessary to meet the NFL’s 53-man roster limit.

Players who may be demoted

Running back Mekhi Sargent was promoted from the practice squad as the team needed depth at the running back position. Now with the team benefiting from the return of rookie running back Jake Funk, and the designation to return of RB Buddy Howell, Sargent appears to be the loser in the numbers game. He has not been used in the offense, and will likely resume his role on the team’s practice squad.

Defensive back Grant Haley is another player who could be waived and resigned on the team’s practice squad. Haley was signed to the team’s practice squad in mid-October but was activated when the team’s roster was decimated by all of the COVID-19 designations. Because Haley was activated due to COVID, he will be eligible to return to the practice squad without the need to clear NFL waivers.

Finally, there is a remote chance that the team may demote defensive back, Kareem Orr. Orr was very active for the team in the Week 14 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. But he could be a casualty of the numbers game, as the Rams currently have 11 defensive backs on the active roster. I don’t think it happens, because Orr played well in his one and only defensive appearance.
