So there has been a lot of movement, shuffling, signings, and firings on the LA Rams roster recently, hasn’t there? Well, we can start off this Christmas Eve by declaring that the LA Rams 53-man roster does indeed have 53 players. But the Rams are still missing three key starters, which we will get to in a moment.

The LA Rams practice squad, fully stocked at 16+1 players, is currently at 14+1. So two slots remain. The team has eight players on injured reserve and has designated RB Cam Akers to return from injured reserve. Finally, the team has just six players on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

Three starters remain unavailable: DB Jordan Fuller, OL Joseph Noteboom, and TE Tyler Higbee. Finally, three players remain on the team’s COVID list from the practice squad: DB Javian Hawkins, WR Warren Jackson, and OLB Justin Lawler. So now that all of the introductions are over, let’s get to the players who are indeed coming back to the ranks (or at least off the COVID list.

Welcome back to the Rams roster

The LA Rams welcome back two defensive backs: Antoine Brooks and JuJu Hughes. The team returns DB Jake Gervase to the practice squad. Last but not least, the Rams announced that TE Johnny Mundt is returning to IR.

While getting players back is always a positive development, neither Hughes nor Brooks have played significant roles for the LA Rams so far this season. Hughes has seen his action in two games during the fourth quarter when the team pulled starters from the football field. Brooks has been exclusively used by the LA Rams on special teams and has generated three tackles as a result.

While getting Rob Havenstein is a huge plus, the Rams remain particularly vulnerable to offensive line injuries without the presence of Joseph Noteboom. The secondary may struggle without starting safety and defensive play-caller, Jordan Fuller. And it’s clear that the absence of TE Tyler Higbee has forced the Rams to re-route through players that are simply not as trusted by the coaching staff.

23 players are back, with only six more to go. Stay tuned…
