LA Rams 2022 NFL Draft picks

The LA Rams will not step up to the podium within the first 100 draft picks, but we know that the LA Rams make their best picks on Day 3. We established that the team will likely prioritize the following positional needs in the upcoming draft:

Offensive linemen – The LA Rams risk losing as many as four key offensive linemen, as well as the possible retirement of long-term left tackle Andrew Whitworth.
Edge rusher – The team may not be able to afford OLB Von Miller, but will surely not compete to extend Ogbonnia Okoronkwo. The LA Rams could find several talented prospects in this draft.
Defensive backs – The team will see the secondary risk further depletion as the team will likely allow both Darious Williams and Donte to find their best deals elsewhere.

Thankfully, the word is that the 2022 NFL Draft is particularly deep in offensive linemen (tackles, particularly) and edge rushers. That is welcome news indeed, as those are two key areas for the Rams to address.

Of course, the placement of the LA Rams specific picks will not be final until the 2021 NFL Season ends and any Compensatory picks are awarded.

Late picks? Great picks

We know now that a great deal of fuss has been made over the LA Rams not picking among any of the top 100 NFL Draft prospects in the 2022 NFL Draft, and choosing just once from the first two days of the draft. But what of the fact that the LA Rams have historically been able to find true NFL talent as late as the seventh round of the NFL Draft? And those rookies cost a fraction of the cost of the early prospects.

The Rams have the following complement of draft picks in the 2022 NFL Draft:

Round 3 – 1
Round 4 – 1
Round 5 – 1
Round 6 – 3
Round 7 – 2

To ensure some semblance of draft integrity, and to ensure we simply do not craft a mock draft that places our most desired players mysteriously at a spot where the LA Rams will draft. So we have elected to use The Draft Network’s online Mock Draft Simulator.  If you are surprised by the players who fall to the LA Rams, keep in mind how surprised everyone was when Creed Humphrey fell to the Rams at 57. Some very talented and coveted players fall each year.

To determine their most likely spot in the draft, we recommend consulting Tankathon.com, which updates the draft order and has the latest projections of compensatory picks.  Okay, draft needs? Check. Draft picks? Check. Now, let’s mock the LA Rams 2022 NFL Draft.
