Mock 2022 NFL Draft
With the 101st pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams select Jaxson Kirkland, offensive tackle, from the University of Washington. Fiction? Don’t count on it. The fact is that the LA Rams screwed offensive line coach Kevin Carberry in the 2021 NFL Draft by completely ignoring the offensive line throughout the entire three-day process. Instead, the Rams grabbed a speedy bauble at the wide receiver position who has produced as much as tight end Brycen Hopkins
The LA Rams cannot flirt with shiny baubles with so few picks happening far too late in this draft. The Rams need some players who are comfortable with a hand in the dirt, getting physical, and coming back for more. Yes, I just described Washinton’s offensive tackle, Jaxson Kirkland, to a tee.
OL is in his blood
We had highlighted a college matchup between Jaxson Kirkland and Michigan Wolverine standout EDGE rusher, Aiden Hutchinson. Hutchison got the best of Kirkland in that game, but Kirkland rebounded with one helluva season.
Let’s give you some reasons to love this young man. He is 6-foot-7 and weighs an excellent playing weight of 310-pounds. He has two years at the right guard position, and two years of left tackle position, ensuring that he is an incredibly versatile prospect for the next level.
His size strength and power are what get NFL analysts, but his footwork, balance, arm length, and handwork are what make them salivate. He is a son of an offensive lineman who has truly lived, breathed, ate, drank, and slept playing the role of an NFL lineman someday. With the 101st pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, the LA Rams can help Kirkland realize his draft. By doing so, the LA Rams land a very impressive offensive lineman.
