LA Rams mock 2022 NFL Draft, grabbing OL and Edge value
By Bret Stuter
Round 6: Pick 214
With the 214th pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams select Micheal Clemons, EDGE rusher, from Texas A&M University. The LA Rams drafted former Texas A&M interior defensive lineman Bobby Brown III in the 2021 NFL Draft, so it only makes sense for the Rams to add his former teammate, Micheal Clemons, in the 2022 NFL Draft doesn’t it?
Clemons, like Boye Mafe selected earlier, can fill a hybrid DE/OLB role for the LA Rams. Clemons has a mountain-like profile, standing 6-foot-5 and weighing a solid 270-pounds. The name of the game for any NFL pass rusher is speed, power, agility, and length. Clemons checks all of the boxes strongly and can punctuate each category.
Texas A&M teammates reunite
Clemons has a nice body of work, showing steady improvement and ever-increasing mastery of his role on the edge. He too is blessed with the ability to put his hand in the dirt on an even defensive line front, or stand up and play outside linebacker on the odd-man front.
He has all of the power and promise of a Terrell Lewis, without the injury history or concerns. Of course, he doesn’t have any of the NFL experience of a Terrell Lewis either. While he may not get an immediate chance at the LA Rams rotation off the edge, he can come in and be an immediate impact player for special teams in the coverage units.
Clemons may be the surprise of the 2022 NFL Draft for the LA Rams. He shows an excellent aptitude for a standout defensive role, and he has all of the raw skillsets to shine very brightly under an NFL spotlight. On the LA Rams roster, he will find an endless supply of veteran wisdom to draw upon. And do not ignore the potential bond that reuniting him with former teammate Bobby Brown III can do for both players.
