When the LA Rams had Coleman Shelton under center and ran RB Sony Michel, the Rams are undefeated. When the LA Rams wear their Bone jersey and Bone pants, they are undefeated. But when quarterback Matthew Stafford throws two interceptions, and one of them as a pick-six, the LA Rams have lost all three games.

In Week 17, LA Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has thrown two interceptions, and one of them is a pick-six. And now the LA Rams fell behind by an ominous score of 10-0 against the Baltimore Ravens with the Ravens taking possession.

Those are not the type of starting quarterback performance that bodes well for any team hoping to do well in the post-season. What the team does in the games leading into the playoffs is typically what the team will do in the playoffs.  Right now, the offense is doing very little well.

The Ravens roar, Rams squeak

The Ravens are clearly in this game to win. They are giving it their entire effort to win this one, and their defense has been particularly effective. In fact, the Ravens defense has already picked off Matthew Stafford twice, scored a touchdown to put the Ravens up with the first score of the game.  The Ravens converted a second interception into a 15-play 91-yard offensive drive that took 9:00 off the game clock.

When the Rams offense does that much effort to help the opponent score points, the Rams frequently lose those types of games.

But even if the Rams somehow pull this game out, it’s a hollow victory. This is not a good showing by a playoff team.

The offense needed  Matthew Stafford to settle down and put up a great performance.  But rather than getting good Stafford, or even bad Stafford, the team has ugly Stafford in Week 17. In the end, the LA Rams offense has done more to help the Baltimore Ravens win than for their own team.
