The LA Rams are on their heels, reeling from a resurgent San Francisco 49ers team that was back into the game when they had no business doing so.  With the game tied, the 49ers were driving with what has inevitably been the heart-breaking game-winner.

The 49ers controlled much of the second half, and when they took the football field with the game all tied up at 17, they had every reason to believe that this drive would win the game. At first and ten yards to go from their own 23, they opted to run the ball.  Five rushes and three passing plays later, they found themselves with second-down and 14 yards to go at the LA Rams 22-yard line.

Garoppolo stepped back and threw the ball towards TE George Kittle who was streaking for the end zone. But the ball was tipped and intercepted by Rams defensive back Jalen Ramsey, ending what was certainly a go-ahead score for the Niners.

But with the football on the LA Rams eight-yard line, the LA Rams had their work cut out for them. Of course, the Rams handed off to Cooper Kupp, who gave the Rams some breathing room out to the 26-yard line.  Kupp showed up twice more, catching a critical pass for 30 yards, and then once more for a four-yard touchdown to give the Rams a huge go-ahead score.

That touchdown gives Cooper Kupp seven receptions for 118 yards and a touchdown. We’ll sort out the records at the end of this one.

The Rams didn’t keep the lead long, as the 49ers drove the ball down the field. Earlier in the game, offensive center Alex Mack stepped on the ankle of defensive back Jordan Fuller. That set the stage for the Rams to send Nick Scott into this one, and Scott playing alongside Rapp was not the type of secondary that the Rams hoped for.

This one is going into overtime.
