I – Winning Super Bowl LVI

Can this LA Rams get there? Yes. Will they get there? Fewer and fewer people believe in the Rams right now than ever, and there was no crowd who believed in their ability to win Super Bowl LVI in the first place. I still believe, and here’s why.

There is far too much drama over the Rams’ losses on social media, and far too little being said about the fact that the Rams scored 460 points this year. That is just 18 points shy of the 2017 total of 478.  It is 88 points more than their 2020 offensive output. One extra game? Sure. But the Rams pulled their offense off the field for two fourth-quarters.

The goal in 2021 was never to get to the playoffs undefeated. The goal was to get to the playoffs with a high enough seeding to play at least one game at home and to arrive relatively healthy. With the exception of some injuries to the Rams secondary, the Rams are entering the postseason relatively healthy. OLB Justin Hollins is back. Even DB Darious Williams is back.

Rams are as ready as they will ever be

The Rams are down both Jordan Fuller with an ankle injury, and Taylor Rapp remains in the NFL concussion protocol.

But the Lombardi Trophy is heading to SoFi Stadium. Now, will the Rams be that team that will hoist it skyward?

We’ve said that these LA Rams have not put together their best football of the season yet. But they were close in the first half of their Week 18 contest against the 49ers. The Rams were nearly flawless as they jumped out to an early 17-0 lead.

While we all ponder what that ‘best game’ might look like, let’s not ignore the fact that the Rams won two difficult games on the road against playoff-hopeful teams whose backs were against the wall. The loss to the LA Rams, at home, effectively ended the seasons of the Minnesota Vikings and the Baltimore Ravens. Those wins came without the Rams playing anything close to excellent footfall.

This one is dedicated to…

This playoff series is for Aaron Donald. This playoff series is for Andrew Whitworth. This playoff series is for Von Miller, Odell Beckham Jr., Cooper Kupp, and a host of NFL players who were not given much chance of competing in an NFL Championship Game.  Well, they still are not given much of a chance. But that may be discounting all the work this team has done this year.

This is a team forged to hardened steel by the doubters. This was a team that was forced to restock the roster throughout the season, thanks to the repeated loss of talent to injuries.  This is a team that endured and won through a COVID-19 outbreak that forced the team to patch together a work-around with no time to think, just do.

And the Rams won. And then the Rams won again. Four games stand between this team and hoisting the Lombardi. I like the LA Rams chances. From what this team had to overcome this season, they are as tough and determined as any team in the NFL. I just wish more of the fanbase believed in them too.
