Much like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from a year ago, the LA Rams must do something that they have been unable to do in order to compete in Super Bowl LVI. This team must defeat their NFC West nemesis, the San Francisco 49ers. While the team has appeared to be, on paper, the better team for most of these contests, the organization continues to discover countless new ways to lose to the Niners.

Is this some grand scheme of Karma? Some ironic twist of fate? The dramatic third encounter of the 49ers with the team they have dominated for three seasons, and whose first game rekindled their chances to even make the playoffs this year? If the team had won the season finale, it would have been the New Orleans Saints, and not the 49ers, that would have earned a playoff berth. That would have seeded this team in 2nd place, hosting both playoff games to this point.

But the 49ers would never have defeated the Green Bay Packers. The Rams would likely have had to travel to that frozen icebox to try and master the Cheeseheads on the snowy tundra. With the state of the running attack, that would have been quite the upset. Is this some grand scheme to give the LA Rams the ultimate revenge for three seasons, and six games, of coming up short, only to be trolled by the 49ers and her fans?

Frustrations run high

LA Rams are frustrated, because inevitably some huge mistake, gaffe, miscue, miscommunication, or buffoonery ends up deciding the game in favor of the 49ers. In each game this season, the Rams have gifted two turnovers to the 49ers. In each 2021 contest, the 49ers have won the time of possession, converting on third downs, and practically every fundamental aspect of the game.

Even when the Rams make 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garappolo look bad, inevitably they cannot prevent making him look like an All-Pro quarterback.

But this team, just like the Buccaneers a year ago, are playing for keeps now. This isn’t just for trolling rights, but rather is for the right to represent the NFC in Super Bowl LVI. Does that change anything?

The betting line opens early with the LA Rams showing up as a slight favorite. While I have learned never to give away points whenever the 49er play the Rams, I do continue to hold out hope that each meeting will be the one to end the losing streak.

49ers vs Rams Prediction NFC Championship Game

The 14-5 LA Rams host the 12-7 San Francisco 49ers in a game that should feature anyone who cheers for the team and holds tickets to the game at SoFi Stadium shows up in attendance, cheering for the team to win and host Super Bowl LVI.

The team is just one win away from doing exactly that. The team is just two wins away from winning it all. This has all the makings for a victory for the home team.

The history between these two teams has been a pattern of a host of 49ers players coming off injured reserve just in time to compete in and make a huge impact, against the Rams. But turnabout is fair play, particularly if the team welcomes back six key starters/rotational players in time to compete in this one. Wouldn’t it be quite the irony for this one to be decided by Ernest Jones, or Taylor Rapp, or even Sebastian Joseph Day?

Will the LA Rams reunite with these key players in time for NFC Championship Game?. light. Must Read

That would be quite the emotional boost to the team. Particularly with the next game, the last game of the 2021-2022 NFL Season, as Super Bowl LVI at SoFi Stadium.

So who will win? Well, former Rams legend Jack Youngblood has his pick in.

I have to believe that the Rams will test their running game rather extensively in this one. Look for the 49ers to go a different route. After baiting the defense with two games of running the ball, they will try to change up the pattern and go with a heavy dose of passing to try to get an early lead.

Our recommendations:

Expect the LA Rams will win this one outright, so take the Money Line and the Rams.

This one will be a tough hard-fought contest. The 49ers won easily in the first contest. In their last meeting, the Niners needed overtime to win. Is the third time a charm? Let’s hope so. This one will be decided by making the other team make mistakes.

Let’s hope that the 49ers blink first and often.
